Harold Olson was born on October 16th, 1947, in Grafton North Dakota, son of Opal Samuelson and Neil Olson. He grew up on a farm near Adams ND with Opal and Willard Samuelson. He helped on the farm and in the barn milking cows. Harold also spent much of his time assisting his grandfather Bill (William) McLaughlin near Lankin, ND. Harold attended school and graduated from Adams high school and went on to attend NDSU for one year at which time he answered the call from his grandfather to come back to Lankin and help farm where he would eventually take over the farm.
Harold married Cheryl Woodruff on March 19th, 1966. From there they moved on and began their life on the farm near Lankin. Harold went on to continue farming as well as raising cattle over the years. Harold began his over the road trucking career first working for Larson Brothers in Park River ND until 1999 at which time he went out on his own as an owner operator. When Harold wasn’t trucking, farming, or raising cattle he loved to spend time Hunting and Fishing. Harold especially loved his many trips to Canada with his sons, grandsons, brothers and friends as well as hunting both locally for deer and in Colorado for Elk. Harold loved the outdoors. Harold and Cheryl were avid We Festers for many years and in later years spent time at their favorite winter location South Padre.
Harold is survived by wife Cheryl Olson, daughters Beverly (Jerry) Richmond, Roberta Olson, sons Stephen (Ann) Olson, Harold Olson Jr. (Nichole) Olson, grandchildren Casey (Hannah) Seymanski, Owen Olson, Megan Olson, Averi (Taylor) Lundebrek, Logan Olson, step grandchildren Brigette (Nick) Robb, Josh Richmond great grandchild Clara Lundebrek, step great grandchildren Annabella Trim, Tyler Robb, Jace Robb, Brothers Rolland (Rita) Olson, and Keith (Cynthia) Olson, sisters Sheila (Gene) Myrvik, Corrine (Erik) Asmundson, and Janet (Javier) Castellanos. He is preceded in death by his mother Opal Samuelson, father Neil Olson, Aunt Crystal McLaughlin, stepfather Willard Samuelson, father-in-law Preston Woodruff and mother-in-law Lorraine Westensee and grandparents William (Bill) and Clara McLaughlin.
Memorial Services for Harold will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Quale Lutheran Church of rural Fordville, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will follow burial, at the Lankin American Legion Hall. Inurnment will be at Quale Lutheran Cemetery.
