Art J. Tallackson

Art "Junie" Tallackson, age 79 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Arthur J. Tallackson, Jr. was born June 12, 1933, in Grafton, ND. He was the son of the late Arthur J. Sr. and Mabel (Mc Dougald) Tallackson. He attended rural school at Mandt, ND, and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River, ND, in 1951. He attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND, for a year, and then returned home and started farming. Art was united in marriage to Delores "Dody" McPherson on January 25, 1952, in East Grand Forks, MN. The couple made their home near Grafton where they farmed until his death. Art accepted Christ as his personal Savior in 1966. He was a member of the Living Word Family Church in Grand Forks, ND, the Gideon Society, Fair Oaks and Hillcrest Golf Clubs, and the Grafton Curling Club. Art skipped his team to the 1970 U.S. Curling Championship; he was also named All American Skip. When he wasn't busy working on the farm, he loved to sit in his screened porch and watch wildlife and the activities around the yard. Art also loved to buy old tractors and restore them to running condition, and he was currently working on several tractors. Art is survived by his wife Dody, Grafton, ND; children: James (Carol) Tallackson, Grafton, ND; Anita (Dan) Passolt, Fargo, ND; Donald (Donell) Tallackson, Houston, TX; 11 grandchildren: six great grandchildren; siblings: Harvey (Glenna) Tallackson, Grafton, ND; Faye Murie, Jamestown, ND; Doris Lauf, Fargo, ND; and Ruth Schwenker, Chicago, IL. Art was preceded in death by his three infant children, his brothers: Ross, Bert, George and William, and his parents, Art and Mabel. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 29, 2012, at 10:30 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hoople, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 5 - 7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Gideons.
