Virgil R. Novak

Virgil R. Novak, age 68 of Pisek, ND passed away at his home on June 30, 2015. Virgil Roland Novak was born August 19, 1946 in Park River, ND the son of the late Frank and Agnes (Greicar) Novak. He grew up and attended school in Pisek, graduating in 1964. He attended Hanson College in Fargo and later worked at Northern Plumbing and Heating in Grand Forks, ND. He returned home and farmed alongside his brother Francis. They also owned and operated the Pisek Hardware Store. Virgil enlisted in the North Dakota National Guard and served from 1966-1972. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church of Pisek where he served on the Cemetery Board, Parish Council and served as a church trustee. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, camping and spending time at the lake. Virgil is survived by his siblings: Maxine (Frank) Kadlec, Fargo, ND; Mary (Curtis) Levang, Howard Lake, MN; Gertrude (John) Praska, Warren, MN; James (Mary Lou) Novak, Grand Forks, ND. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Scott, Jean, Karen, Craig, Lissa, Jon, Jared, Joel, Jason and Angi. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Francis and nephew, Jeff. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 3, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Catholic Church of Pisek, ND. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River.. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Pisek American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
