Yvonne G. Brakke

Yvonne G. Brakke, age 89 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Lutheran Sunset Home.

Yvonne G. Cryan was born June 28, 1933 in Cayuga, ND to the late Thomas and Gertrude (LaFrentz) Cryan.  She grew up and attended school in Cayuga.  Yvonne married Deane Brakke on December 23, 1955.  They spent time in England and Germany when Deane was stationed overseas in the United States Army.  Upon Deane’s discharge from the military in 1958, the family returned home to North Dakota.  They lived in Forman, ND for 18 years, before moving to Grafton.  Yvonne worked alongside Deane as secretary and bookkeeper, for many years.  Deane passed away in 2004 and Yvonne continued to live in the Grafton area.

Yvonne loved to play cards and spend time at the lake with her family and friends.  Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren and the moments they shared together, always making sure they were well fed with her wonderful meals and delicious treats.

Yvonne will be dearly missed by her children: Sandra Stroh, Grafton, ND; Wanda (Dana) Rasmussen, Fargo, ND; Daniel Brakke, Grafton, ND; and Debra Gehrtz (Richard Gill), Ada, MN; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren; sister Marlene Backer; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Bobby, granddaughter Danielle, two great grandchildren, and niece Julie.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton.  Burial will be at a later date at the Cayuga Community Cemetery in Cayuga, ND.
