William F. Novak

William "Bill" F. Novak, age 80 of Pisek, ND passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. William Frank Novak was born December 4, 1934 in rural Pisek, the son of the late Thomas W. and Rose H. (Novak) Novak. He was raised on the family farm west of Pisek. He attended rural country grade school and the Walsh County Agricultural School. Bill served in the United States Army. After his service he returned home to farm the family farm. He was united in marriage to Louise Machart on October 5, 1959 in Pisek, ND. Bill, or Wild Bill, as he was known to many, loved his farm and stayed with it until he retired in 1999. He loved to attend auction sales. He was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #5055 and the Novotny American Legion Post #208. Bill is survived by his wife, Louise Novak, Park River, ND; children: Susan Lanning, Pisek, ND; Tom (Kristen Moore) Novak, Sheridan, WY; Billy Novak, Killdeer, ND; Bonnie (Dale) Zahradka, Lankin, ND; Sheryl (Chuck Watson) Novak, Bathgate, ND; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Lawrence (Larry) Novak; sisters: Loretta (Joe) Lovcik, Lona (Doug) Carter, Patsy (Jim) Votava; brother-in-law, Herman Barta, Sr.; foster son, Jim (Mary) Drake, Indian Springs, NV and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Rachel Novak Lindtwed; brothers: George and Donald Novak; sisters: Angeline (Herman) Zidon, Caroline (Herman) Barta and Bernice (Bud) Fischer; and son-in-law, Craig Lanning. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Pisek, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Pisek, ND. Military Rites will be provided by the Novotny American Legion Post #208 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Dr. Buck Zahradka Memorial Scholarship Endowment and the St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Pisek, ND.
