William Edward Lofthus (Bill, Billy) was born September 30, 1933 to Ernest and Florence (Mills) Lofthus on the family farm in Adams, North Dakota. He passed away peacefully on Sunday - October 26, 2025, at home surrounded by family.
He attended Hoff Country Grade School and graduated from Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River, North Dakota in 1951. He married Janice Holand from Edinburg, North Dakota in 1954 at Garfield Church in rural Edinburg. They moved to Seattle, Washington in 1956 where he worked for the Boeing Company as a Union Machinist for 36 years. There they raised their 3 children.
He retired in 1992 and moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1996. He loved to have his family visit the warm sunny weather. He enjoyed golfing, ping pong, and poetry writing for special occasions. He was also known for his great joke telling and love of Lutefisk!! In 2023 they moved to Radcliffe Place Independent Senior Living in Kent, Washington.
Bill is survived by his wife Janice of 71 years, sons Lynn (Leanna) Lofthus, Gregory (Lisa) Lofthus, daughter Karen (Mike) Clark. Seven Grandchildren, Alexandra (Riane) Lofthus, Jenna (Brian) Mellick, Nick Chipps, Kris Chipps, Perry Hall, Kyle (Jessica) Clark and Kevin Clark. Seven Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Debra Jean, parents Ernest & Florence Lofthus, brothers James Lofthus, Ordean Lofthus, sisters Elaine Haroldson and Kathryn (Infant).
He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by family & friends.
Graveside services will be Friday, July 31, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Garfield Cemetery, rural Edinburg, North Dakota. Everyone is invited for a time of lunch and fellowship immediately following the Graveside Services at Trinity Lutheran Church, Edinburg, ND.
