Wesley G. Sather, age 75 of Grafton, ND passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his family. Wesley G. Sather was born July 19, 1933 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Walter and Alma (Odden) Sather. He grew up and attended school in Grafton, graduating from Grafton High School. Following his education he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge in 1953 he returned to Grafton and started farming with his parents and uncle. Wesley also worked as a potato inspector for the North Dakota State Seed Department retiring in 2007. He was united in marriage to Frances Martineau in July of 1987 in Watertown, SD. The couple made their home near Grafton. Wesley was a member of the Grafton American Legion Post #41. His passion was big gardens. He supplied many of his friends, family and wildlife with produce from his gardens. He was famous for his apple pies and lefse. Wesley loved to keep his yard looking immaculate. He is survived by his wife Fran of Grafton, ND; children: Barbara Simons, Enderlin, ND; Bradley Sather, Grafton, ND; step-children: Loren (Marge) Mattson, Grafton, ND; Lorie (Perry) Degeldere, Grafton, ND; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren; siblings: Donald (Carol) Sather, Wesley Chapel, FL; Gladys Kauppi, New Plymouth, ID; sister-in -law Irene Sather of Greenbush, MN. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Wally and Milton. Memorial services will be Monday, June 15, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be Monday for one hour prior to the service.
