Wallace C. Olson, age 85 of Grafton and formerly of Hoople, passed on to be with our Lord on Friday, March 27, 2009 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Wallace C. Olson was born January 4, 1924 in Fairdale, ND the son of the late Thomas and Matilda (Berntson) Olson. He grew up and attended school there. He began working in farming while in his teens in the Fairdale area on the Palmer Dahlgren, George Berntson and Reynard Olson farms. In 1953 he moved to Hoople where he worked on the Hugo and Loyd Oberg farm until the time of his retirement. He was united in marriage to Ruth Elshaug on March 28, 1952 in Crookston, MN.
Wally found joy and contentment while working the land and being surrounded by his family that he so dearly loved.
Wallace is survived by his children: Roger (Synoia) Olson, Kalispell, MT; Renae (Gary) Grinde, Grafton, ND; grandchildren: Kelly Olson, San Francisco, CA; Tyler and Tanner Grinde, Grafton, ND; and sisters: Viola (Raymond) Skorheim, Minot, ND; Deloris Sandberg, Duluth, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters: Nora Amundrud, Alma Bakken, Alida Bjorg, Florence Wick and Olive Olson; brothers: Arthur, Ted and Reynard.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 30, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of the Lutheran Sunset Home, Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Monday for one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be at the Hitterdal Lutheran Cemetery, rural Adams, ND.
The Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton is in charge of the arrangements.
