Vivian I Havis Douglass

Vivian I. Havis Douglass, age 92 of Grafton, ND passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Vivian Isabel Moir was born February 17, 1921 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to the late Everett and Helen (Greenway) Moir. She was the oldest of three children and spent her childhood in Detroit, MI and the surrounding area. She was united in marriage to James H. Havis on August 15, 1941 in Ferndale, MI. James was stationed in the Detroit area while serving his country during WWII. They lived in the Detroit area until 1953 when they moved to Clyde, ND. In 1958 they moved to Grafton where Vivian was employed by the S & L Store, Sears, the Grafton Credit Bureau, and Pamida. She retired in the 1980s. James passed away October 29, 1987. Vivian was united in marriage to Dwight L. Douglass on December 29, 1989. They divided their time between Grafton, Livonia, MI and Arcadia, FL until Dwight's death in May of 1996. Vivian returned to Grafton and lived independently until moving into the Leisure Estates in 2008. She moved into the Lutheran Sunset Home in 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother Bruce Moir, daughters Valerie Stark and Janet Schanilec-Schulze and son-in-law Robert Schanilec. Vivian is survived by her sister Dawn (Ron) Southall, Columbus, OH, daughters: Penelope (Leland) Anderson, Grafton, ND, Judith (Donald) Korbl, Kandiyohi, MN, son James H. (Rita) Havis, Oslo, MN, sons-in-law Vernon Schulze, Reno, NV and Steve. G. Stark, Grafton, ND. Vivian was the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren: Melissa (Steve) Bakken, Melinda (Nolan) Orr, Rob (Lisa) Schanilec, Jennifer (Jon) White, Shaun (Kristen) Havis, Jenice (Eric) Looney, Sheri (Dave) Weniger, Lori (Scott) Erickson, Kristi (Jon) Riewer, Zach (Becky) Greskowiak, Abby Stark (James Campbell) Kari (Leroy) Huizenga, Kelly (Brian) Kallevig, Kenneth (Nadiah) Korbl, and Katie Korbl (Travis Pull). She had 32 great grandchildren and recently became a great-great grandmother for the first time. Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery of Grafton.
