Victor Mihulka, age 89 of Grafton passed away on Wednesday, May 07, 2008 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton. Victor Mihulka was born March 17, 1919 in Dickinson, ND the son of the late Laddie and Mary (Svoboda) Mihulka. He grew up and attended schools there. Following his education he helped on the family farm. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1942 as a medic. He was involved in the D-Day invasion in France and Germany. Victor was united in marriage to Barbara Franks on January 27, 1944 in Braintree England. He was discharged in 1946 and the couple returned to Bowman, ND where they owned and operated Mihulka Jewelry and B&J Dimestore. After a fire destroyed the business the couple moved to Grafton, ND in September of 1962.
They owned and operated Valley Jewelry until retiring in 2001. He moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home in July of 2005.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Grafton Knights of Columbus, Grafton V.F. W. Post #9367, Grafton American Legion Post #41 and the Grafton Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of Grafton, ND; children: Theresa Kalbrener, Grafton, ND; Stephen (Anita) Mihulka, Grafton, ND and Robert (Diane) Mihulka, Grand Forks, ND; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and brothers: Joseph (Amy) Mihulka, Bowman, ND and Peter Mihulka, Glendive, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents and foster family: Charles, Vic, Joseph, Tony, Beatrice and Eleanor Wokal.
Memorial services will be Monday May 12, 2008 at 2:30 PM at St. John's Catholic Church, Grafton, ND.Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton V.F.W. Post #9367. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
