Veronica Irene Johansen

Veronica I. Johansen, age 84 of Edinburg, ND passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at her home in Edinburg. Veronica Irene Kuznia was born June 24, 1930 in Florian, MN the daughter of the late Michael and Bridget (Zakrzewski) Kuznia. She graduated High school in Stephen, MN and moved to Grand Forks to attend the St. Joseph's School of Nursing where she received her RN degree. Veronica then began working at the Deaconess Hospital in Grafton, ND. She met her future husband Donald Johansen at a dance in Veseleyville. They were married September 6, 1952 in Park River. To this union, five children were born. The couple lived and farmed near Edinburg. Veronica worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Ansgar's Hospital in Park River until retiring in1995. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was also very passionately pro-life. Veronica is survived by her children: Darryl (Tanya) Johansen, Grafton, ND; Randy (Janet) Johansen, Edinburg, ND; Mary (James) Kertz, Edinburg, ND; Jeanne (Jeff) Pederson, Thief River Falls, MN; Donald Johansen Jr. (Judi), Worthington, IA; eleven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and siblings: Emil (Florence) Kuznia, Stephen, MN; Michael (Lillian) Kuznia, Florian, MN; Rosalia Stusynski, Strandquist, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on June 8, 2006, brothers: Ira, Stephen and Albert and sisters: Philomae and Melany. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Park River. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Edinburg. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Park River, ND. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the St. Gianna's Maternity Home, 15605 County Road 15, Minto, ND 58261, or a charity of your choice.
