Vernon "Duane" Green

Vernon "Duane" Green, age 83, of St. Thomas, ND passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Duane was born August 1, 1930 in Drayton, ND, the son of the late Floyd and Beda (Stark) Green. Duane was raised and attended country school in the St. Thomas area. Duane was united in marriage to Martha Robinson on November 16, 1953. The couple made their home on the beloved family farm in rural St. Thomas. Duane's life revolved around his love of farming and family. Hours were spent each day touring the back roads "checking out his crops." He enjoyed talking to neighbors at the café and having coffee with his son-in-law Lowen about each day's events. Duane spent his whole life on his farm until a fall caused him to retire and move into the Lutheran Sunset Home in 2011. He was a member of the St. Thomas United Methodist Church. Duane is survived by his two daughters: Cheryl (Curt) Parker, Drayton, ND; Bonna (Lowen) Littlejohn, St. Thomas, ND; grandchildren: Stephanie (Kevin) Kirkeby, Drayton, ND; Tim (Tatum) Parker, Holcomb, KS; Amanda Parker, Drayton, ND; Alyssa (Mike Kearney) Littlejohn, Grand Forks, ND; Kaley (Iver Hensrud) Littlejohn, Grand Forks, ND; great grandchildren: Gavin, Emma and Mady Kirkeby, Ella and Luke Parker, Sutter and Sawyer Littlejohn and baby Kearney; sister, Dorothy (Bob) Cameron, Hallock, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Martha, sister Elsie Kostka and a baby brother. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the St. Thomas United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the St. Thomas City Cemetery.
