Verna Delle G. Skorheim

Verna Delle G. Skorheim, age 86 of Park River, ND passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the Park River Good Samaritan Center.   Verna Delle G. Laithwaite was born June 22, 1929 on the farm near Edinburg, ND the daughter of the late Glenn and Ruth (Rodger) Laithwaite. She graduated from Edinburg High School in 1947 and continued her education at Concordia College, graduating with a Major in Home Economics in 1951. Verna Delle taught school in Langdon, ND for three years prior to her marriage to Henry B. Skorheim on December 29, 1954. The couple made their home on the farm southeast of Adams, ND. She later taught kindergarten in Adams for many years as well as piano lessons to several local students. Verna Delle and Henry spent the winters in Mesa, AZ for 30 years. The couple moved into Park River in 1993. Verna Delle moved into the Good Samaritan Center in January of 2013. Henry passed away on May 15, 2014.   Verna Delle was a member of the Hoff Lutheran Church and WELCA. She also served as the church organist for many years. She was a leader of the Willing Workers 4-H Club and served as a judge at the Walsh County Fair. She was a 60 year member of the Kraft Klub. Verna Delle was a very talented artist. She painted china and with oil and watercolors. She has created many pieces that family members and friends treasure. She was a member of the Apache Wells Art Club and won numerous awards at their art shows each year.   Verna Delle is survived by her children: Paul (Melinda) Skorheim, Sauk Centre, MN; Jay (Becky) Skorheim, Park River, ND; Barbara (Deron) Redinger, Fargo, ND; six grandchildren: Ryan, Laura, Matthew, Trevor, Craig and Michael, five great grandchildren: Noel, Livia, Vera, Zoey and Aeyla, her sister, Beverley Hall, Edinburg, ND; cousin, Nadine (Jerry) Olson, Crystal, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Myron Laithwaite.   Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hoff Lutheran Church, rural Adams. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Hoff Lutheran Cemetery.
