Vern L. Olson, age 62 of Grafton, ND passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton.
Verlin Louis Olson was born December 27, 1946 in Rhinelander, WI the son of the late Virgil L. and Alice (Dean) Olson. He grew up and attended school in Rhinelander. In 1965 he went to work for the Wisconsin Hi-Liter in Burlington, WI. He worked there until 1968. From 1968-1974 he worked at the Quality Print Inc. in Merrill, WI as the web supervisor. From 1974-1978 he worked as the plant manager at Watco Publishers in Wadena, MN. From 1978-1980 he was the foreman at the Sioux Falls Shopping News. In 1980 he worked as the plant manager at Wold Printing in Larimore. After Morgan Printing purchased the business, Vern moved to Grafton and worked for Morgan Printing for 28 years. Vern was united in marriage to Mary Weishalla on June 28, 1966 in Racine, WI.
Vern was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He loved all sports and was an avid Sioux and Minnesota Viking fan.
Vern will be missed by his loving family including his wife Mary of 42 years; children: Julie (Bruce) Schempp, Larimore, ND; Jennifer (Marc) Beine, Northwood, ND; Jeffrey (Kathy) Olson, Larimore, ND; Joseph (Amy) Olson, Grafton, ND; Angela (Carl) Snider, Grafton, ND; grandchildren: Mary, Timothy, Rachel, Eva, Jacob, Jenna, Adam, Megan, Kelsey, Elizabeth, Karly, Lisa, Tiffanie, Carl, Noah and Brianna; great grandchildren: Alexa, Parker and Landen; siblings: Garnet (Rolland) Wolff, Waukesha, WI; Daisy Olson, Kenosha, WI; Jean (Jerry) Smetana, Burlington, WI; Joy (Bob) Meddough, Delavan, WI
and Roger (Debbie) Olson, Elkhorn, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 23, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Bellevue Catholic Cemetery in Larimore, ND.
