Vance William Anderson, age 67 of Grafton, ND died peacefully Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the First Care Health Center of Park River after a two month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Vance was born on November 28, 1949 to Earl and Ione (Midgarden) Anderson. He attended Sinkler grade school, rural Grafton and graduated from Grafton High School in 1967. Vance was united in marriage to Karen Kosmatka on April 25, 1981 in Warsaw, ND. He was an active serviceman in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict 1968-1972 and member of the Grafton American Legion and VFW.
Vance served on the boards of Nash Grain and Training, Lutheran Sunset Home and the National Potato Council. Vance farmed with his dad and then later with his brother raising sugar beets and certified seed potatoes. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting. After returning from farming, Vance worked for Marvin Windows for 18 years, retiring November 2015. Vance was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, finally making the trip to Lambeau Field last fall.
He is survived by his wife Karen Anderson, Grafton, ND; daughter and son-in-law: Holly and Jon Natonick and grandson, Henrik and baby due end of September of St. Paul, TX; son and daughter-in-law: Paul and Breanna Anderson of Grafton, ND; brother Ross (Colleen) Anderson, Grafton; sister Genell (Wayne) Jallo of Fordville; also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Ione Anderson.
A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the Assembly of God Church, Grafton. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7:00 P.M. with at prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Friends may call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Military Rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post and the U.S. Navy Funeral Honors.
