Urban Carl Henry Wollitz, 97 Grafton died Wednesday, Dec. 9th, 2015 at the Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton.
Urban Carl Henry Wollitz was born April 13th, 1918 in Lidgerwood, ND, the son of Emil and Anna (Osten) Wollitz. He married Beverley Savold on Oct. 24th, 1938 in Maddock, ND. After they were married they moved to Grafton, ND. Shortly after that he enlisted into the US Navy from 1943-1945. He was stationed aboard ship for 2 years on the submarine tender the U.S. S. Proteus. When he returned to Grafton from his military service he opened his own business, Wollitz Barber Shop where he worked until he retired in 1983. During his retirement he enjoyed golfing, traveling, watching the NY Yankee’s and playing cards with friends.
He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Grafton and the Grafton American Legion Post #41.
Urban is survived by his children, Judy (Randy) Redmann, St. Thomas, ND, Bob (Sarah) Wollitz, Grafton, ND: 4 Grandchildren, Troy (Amber) Redmann, Andrea (Zack Sobczak) Wollitz, Darrin Wollitz, Adam Redmann, one Great Granddaughter Stella Mae. Urban was preceded in death by his wife Beverley, sisters Pearl Kackman and LaVerne Koppleman.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, Dec.12th at 10:00 am at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Grafton. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post #41 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Interment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
