Todd O’Brian Ballinger, 54, of Grafton, ND peacefully went back home to Heaven on April 28, 2017 at his home in Grafton, ND. Toddy was born on St Patrick’s Day March 17, 1963 in Oakes, ND to Lester ‘Bud’ and Eva May (Joyce) Ballinger during a blizzard. The nurses taped a shamrock in his dark hair. He was born on his Grandpa Joyce’s birthday. Todd was baptized into the Christian faith on April 21, 1963. His godparents were Sonke and Emma Jensen. He held a special place in the hearts of his family and the staff and residents of the Life Skills and Transition Center of Grafton. He belonged to the All Faith Chapel at the Center and attended Church, Sunday School, Bible School and Bible Camp throughout the years. He enjoyed swimming, swinging, listening to music and playing ball.
Todd is survived by his sister Leslie (Allen) Arne of Minot and 4 brothers: Ernest (Jan) Ballinger of Lisbon ND; Rod (Sue) Ballinger of Fargo ND; Rocky (Brenda) Ballinger of Verona ND; Rick (Anne) Ballinger of Fargo ND; uncle Ty (Artis) Ballinger of Moses Lake, Washington; aunt LaRae Steffen of Victorville, California and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Matthew Ballinger; great nephew, Isaac Knipp; niece, Tracey Arne; Maternal grandparents Walter & Eleanor Joyce and Paternal grandparents Ernest & Margaret Ballinger.
Honorary Pallbearers: Todd’s friends in attendance.
Services will be held Monday, May 8, 2017 at 1:45 pm at the All Faiths Chapel, Grafton ND. Pastor Seter officiating.
Interment at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery Verona, ND.
Memorials are preferred to The National Down Syndrome Society.
Todd’s family would like to thank his family at the Life Skills and Transition Center for their phenomenal love and care of Todd. Love doesn’t count chromosomes (Special Miracles).
