Thomas J. Hughes

Thomas J. Hughes age 72 of Carson City, NV and formerly of Minto, ND passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at his sisters' home in Minto. Thomas J. Hughes was born November 18, 1937 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Patrick L. and Mary Madeline (Dobson) Hughes. He grew up and attended schools in Minto. Following his education he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956-1958, serving in Japan. Upon his discharge he moved to California where he worked for the Brookside Winery near Ontario, CA. He was united in marriage to Margaret Murphy in 1971 in Ontario, CA. He later worked for the Ontario/Montclair School District, retiring in 1998 and moving to Carson City, NV. He lived there until February of 2010 when he moved to Minto to live with his family. He was a member of the Ontario, CA Eagle's Club and a life member of the Minto American Legion Post #201. He is survived by his sisters: Kathy (George) Barta Jr., Victorville, CA; Colleen (Robert) Langowski, Minto, ND; sons: Damien (Carrie) Peras and John Peras and Reneta Peras, all of Carson City, NV; four grandchildren, one great grandson, sister-in-law; Donna Hughes, Victorville, CA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three nieces and brother James. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto, ND. Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Minto, ND. Military rites will be provided by the Minto American Legion Post #201.
