Susan F. Kosobud

Susan Kosobud, age 74 of Minto, North Dakota, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Susan F. Kosobud was born July 12, 1949 in Grafton, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Edwin and Bessie (Kovarik) Kosobud.  She graduated from Grafton High School and then attended Cosmetology School.  Susan was united in marriage to Robert Nielsen.  The couple moved to Wahpeton, North Dakota where she was the store Manager for Piggly Wiggly.  She then worked as a Social Worker for a nursing home in California.  When she returned to Minto, Susan helped her sister, Kathy run a café between Minto and Oslo.  Susan also worked at the Life Skills and Transition Center, Lutheran Sunset Home and the AmericInn until her retirement.

She enjoyed being with her family and helping raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She also enjoyed watching Cornerstone Church on tv every Sunday, baking, cooking, playing Yahtzee, coloring, painting and art.  Susan also enjoyed going on trips with her sister Kathy.

Susan is survived by her children:  Nicole Nielsen, Grafton, ND; Cory (Theresa) Nielsen, Minot, ND; her grandchildren:  Nicholas Jacobson, Shawnya Jacobson, Christopher Nielsen, Madelyn Nielsen and Emily Nielsen; her great grandchildren:  Payton, Kolby, Lukas, Olivyah and Robert; her siblings:  Richard (Caprice) Kosobud, Lucerne Valley, CA; Joe (Nancy) Kosobud, Apple Valley, MN; Michael Kosobud, Moorhead, MN and Tom (Dory) Kosobud, Minto, ND.  Several nieces and nephews also survived.  She was preceded in death by her parents, lifelong friend, Robert Nielsen, brother, Charles Kosobud and sister, Kathryn (James) Gudajtes.

Memorial services will be Friday June 21, 2024 at 2:30 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton, North Dakota.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, Warsaw, North Dakota.
