Stanley J Jerome

Stanley J. Jerome, age 81 of Lankin, ND passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.

Stanley John was born January 9, 1942 to the late Frederick and Clothilda (Latraille) Jerome in Leroy, North Dakota.  He was raised and attended school in Leroy.  Following his education, he began working in construction. On November 4, 1980, he married Peggy Stenerson in Warren, MN.  They made their home together in Grafton, before moving to Pisek, and then settling on the farm in Lankin.  Stanley worked for the Walsh County Highway Department for more then 20 years.   He was a hard-working man, who saved his vacation time to help haul beets every fall and lend a hand to any area farmer that needed an extra set.

Stanley loved to hunt, fish, and be with his horses.  He loved training horses and taking his family on trail rides.  He was a “jack of all trades” and could make or fix just about anything.  When Stanley got promoted to “papa”, he took his job seriously.  He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  “Papa” will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Stanley is survived by his daughters: Melinda (Jason) Mostad, Grafton, ND and Amy (Joe) Garcia, Grafton, ND; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; his sister Susie Dearinger, Walhalla, ND and special cousin Mervin Latraille, many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Peggy, son Lucas, siblings: Leonard Jerome, Eva Welsh, and Gilbert Latraille; and brother-in-law Elmer Dearinger.

Funeral services will Friday, August 18, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River.  A visitation will be on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 5-7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.   Friends and family may also call at the church on Friday one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at Hoff Lutheran Cemetery, rural Adams.
