Sigurjona G. Geir, 92 of Adams and formerly of Milton passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Sigurjona G. Jonasson was born December 1, 1918 in Gardar, ND the daughter of the late Jonas and Ingebjorg (Bergman) Jonasson. She graduated from Milton High School. Following her education, Sigurjona worked in the cook car for the threshing crews in the area. She was united in marriage to Thorhallur L. Geir on July 25, 1940 in Gardar. The couple lived and farmed in the Mountain area. In 1955 they moved to Milton, ND. He passed away on Dec. 3, 1962. Sigurjona continued to live in Milton until 2001 when she moved to Adams, ND. Sigurjona was a member of the Milton Lutheran Church and WELCA and the Milton American Legion Auxiliary. Her favorite pastimes were baking, making wedding cakes, embroidery and caring for others. She was extremely proud of her Icelandic heritage. Sigurjona is survived by her children: L. Duane (Carolyn) Geir, Fargo, ND; Richard Geir, Edinburg, ND; Allan (Marlyce) Geir, Milton, ND; JoAnn (William) Watson, Grand Forks, ND; Nancy (Jeff) Boe, Adams, ND; eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, four great grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren, four step great great grandchildren, and her sister Dorothy Lykken, Milton, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Margie Geir, step-grandson, Randy Slama; three brothers: John, George and Percy and two sisters: Runa Tollefson and Pansy Axvig.
