Shirley A. Lindell

Shirley A. Lindell, age 89 of Grafton, ND, and formerly Park River, ND passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Woodside Village of Grand Forks, ND.

Shirley Ann McPherson was born December 1, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Norman and Maud (Hanson) McPherson.  She grew up and attended school in Park River, ND, graduating from the Walsh County Agriculture School.  Shirley married Charles Lindell at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on June 10, 1950.  She worked for Polar Communications for 33 years and enjoyed her many roles.  After retirement Shirley and Charles wintered in Arizona, before moving to Mesa, AZ full-time for 8 years.

Shirley was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Park River.  She was a member and past president of St. Mary’s Altar Society, Park River Legion Auxiliary, and St. Ansgar’s Auxiliary.  Shirley loved to read and was a wonderful baker.  Her greatest joy in life was becoming a grandmother and then, great-grandmother.   Shirley made everyone she encountered feel loved and special, she will be missed.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Charles of Park River, ND; son: John (Sharyl) Lindell, Grafton, ND; grandchildren: Mandy Jo Lindell, Grand Forks, ND; Ryan Lindell, Maine; Tyler (Kylie) Lindell, Fargo, ND; Nick Lindell, Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren Kian Lindell and Jayden Lindell; siblings: Jim McPherson, Mandan, ND and Dody (Delores) Tallackson, Park River, ND; and daughter-in-law: Phyllis Lindell, Fargo, ND.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sons: Robbie and Tom.

Memorial services will be Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Lunch and a time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at Bethel Free Lutheran Church of Grafton. Inurnment will be in the spring, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, ND.
