Shelby H. Loftsgard, age 81 of Pisek, ND, and formerly of Hoople, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the First Care Health Center of Park River.
Shelby H. Loftsgard was born April 27, 1936 in Dundee Township, Walsh County, ND, the son of the late Helmer and Sena (Midboe) Loftsgard. He grew up in Dundee Township and attended the Mount View Country School. Following his education, he farmed and raised cattle, worked at Borden’s in Grafton and later American Crystal Sugar in Drayton, ND and East Grand Forks, MN. He was there when the first beet was sliced in Drayton. He retired from farming in 2014.
He was a member of the Park Center Lutheran Church of Rural Hoople. He enjoyed playing the accordion, taking trips to Duluth, feeding deer, cats and playing rook.
Shelby is survived by his sister Lynda (Ronnie) Houser, Valley City, ND, sister-in-law Sophie Loftsgard, Park River, ND, nieces: Connie (Keith Glatt) Udby and Tami (Levi) Durfey, nephews: Jerry (Laurie Foseide), Allan, and Gene (Ranae) Loftsgard, Scott (Georgia) and Brian (Cynthia) Udby, and Kelly (Kathy) Houser, as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews, and special friend Vickie Schrank, Grafton, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Orvin, sister Carol (Glenn) Udby, and niece Tracy Houser.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Victory Free Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Park Center Lutheran Cemetery.
