Sharon L. Thompson, age 68 of Grafton, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.
Sharon L. Carlson was born July 23, 1947 in Fargo, ND to Huger and Margaret Carlson. She grew up in Larimore, ND. She attended Northland Community and Technical College to become an interior designer. After retiring from interior design, she pursued a lifelong interest to become a nurse and returned to Northland for her LPN.
Sharon was a member of the Bethel Free Lutheran Church, where she was the former secretary and active with the Women’s Ministry. She loved gardening and Bible study. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and her pets.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Thompson; children: Danielle (John) Scherer, San Diego, CA, and Chad Thompson, Grand Forks, ND; five grandchildren: Aaron, Angel, and James Scherer, and Kevin and Elizabeth (Zibbey) Thompson; a brother, Ron (Jane) Carlson, Larimore; three nephews, Travis (Ashley) Carlson, Jamie Carlson, and Ryan (Malarie) Carlson; four great-nieces/nephew: Brooke, Taylor, Jordan, and Grayson; and several cousins. Her son, Paul, and her parents, Huger and Margaret Carlson, precede her in death.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Bethel Free Lutheran Church of Grafton. Visitation will be on Monday from 5-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Crescent Cemetery of Grafton in the spring. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to Bethel Free Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
