Sharon K. Thompson, age 61 of Park River, ND passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Shari K. Moen was born July 19, 1956 in Grand Forks, ND, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Phyllis (McConnachie) Moen. She graduated from Midway High School and attended Mayville State University. Shari was united in marriage to Mark Thompson on October 26, 1974 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Park River. The couple made their home near Park River and started farming. She worked for Morton Buildings before spending the past 25 years as office manager with AGSCO/CPS.

She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. “Grandma Yellow” loved to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events and was an avid Sioux Fan. She loved planning and going on trips with her family and Birthday Club.

Shari is survived by her husband, Mark Thompson, Park River, ND; children: Sean Thompson, Winona, MN; Shara (Aaron) Fischer, Fargo, ND; Erin (Grant) Gigstad, Fargo, ND; Dean (Katie) Thompson, Park River, ND; grandchildren: Drew, Jack, Kate and Will Thompson; Meg and Thompson Fischer; Aniston, Beckett and Declan Gigstad and Trace Anderson; sister, Ruth Jelinek, Pisek, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Larry Moen and nephew, Jeremiah Jelinek.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 22, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Park River. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 4:00 P.M. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Friends may call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Inkster Cemetery in the spring.
