Scott A. Veum

Scott A. Veum, age 57 of Grafton, ND passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks from heart failure. Scott A Veum was born Dec. 14, 1956 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Duane and Marcene (Klinicke) Veum. He graduated from Grafton High School in 1975 and attended the University of North Dakota earning a BS degree in Business Administration. He continued his education receiving a MA Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Northern Arizona. He married Joann Mattson in 1978 and later married Ellen Cochrane. To this union two sons were born, Scott a Veum Jr and Zachary Veum. His career involved providing security for the Hollywood, CA Division of the Pinkerton Company. In later years he worked for a number of construction and mining companies as a driller/blaster. Scott is survived by his two sons: Scott Jr of Starkville, MS and Zachary of Tuscaloosa, AL; his siblings: Roger of Oceano, CA; Wanda (Bill) Nygard, Mitchell, SD; Sheryl (Bud) Owen, Gilbert, AZ and Sandra Johnson, Flowery Branch, GA; his step-father, Clyde Burtt, Grafton, ND along with many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, September, 1, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Friends may call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Grafton, ND.
