Sary Soeung

February 1, 1946 — May 9, 2017

Sary Soeung, age 71 of Grafton, ND passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.
Sary Soeung was born February 1, 1946 in South Vietnam, the son of Wom and Yow Soeng. When he was nineteen he entered the Vietnamese military and served for twelve years assisting the United States. After leaving Cambodia he lived in Thailand for two years and moved to the United States in the late 1970’s. He worked as a janitor for the Grafton School System and then as a Direct Care Technician for the Grafton Developmental Center for 30 years. On April 30, 2007, Sary was united in marriage to the love of his life, Yeng Seng. They enjoyed attending church and going on bike rides.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Grafton. He was extremely patriotic as he deeply loved the United States. He loved collecting flags and eagles, talking politics, watching the news, cooking native foods and loved working on word puzzles.
Sary is survived by his wife Yeng Seng, Grafton, ND. He had four brothers, three sisters, three step-brothers and four step-sisters; three grandchildren, one great granddaughter and one great grandson. He had three children; his first wife and two children perished in the war.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 15, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the Assembly of God Church, Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Grafton City Cemetery.
