Sandra J Stroh

Sandra “Sandy” Jean (Brakke) Stroh, 65,​ of Grafton, ND passed away into eternal life on Wednesday June 21st, 2023 at her home in Grafton, ND.

Sandy was born November 5th, 1957, to Deane and Yvonne (Cryan) Brakke.

She grew up in Forman, ND with her siblings and attended Sargent Central High School where she was a 1975 state relay track champion. She graduated from high school in 1975. After graduation, she worked at Melrose in Gwinner, where she met her husband. They were united in marriage in 1976 and soon after had Billy, Mandy, and Bobby. They lived in the communities of Gwinner, Forman, and Elliott. In 1981, Sandy and the kids moved to Grafton.

Sandy worked as a dietary service worker for the Grafton State School and the Lutheran Sunset Home. She also worked a second job as a bartender at the 5:45 and Generations for many years. Sandy worked many other jobs in the community before dedicating her time going on adventures and caring for her mother.

Sandy enjoyed camping, playing darts, spending time with family and friends, and always cooking or baking. She also had a love for her many animals, cats and dogs.

Sandy is survived by her son, Billy (Shanna) Stroh, Grafton, ND; daughter, Mandy (Steve) McGovern, Oregon; 9 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild, sisters: Wanda (Dana) Rasmussen, Detroit Lakes, MN; Debbie Gehrtz (Richard Gill), Ada, MN and brother Danny Brakke, Grafton, ND, and many nieces, nephews and their children who she loved as her own.

Sandy is preceded in death by her son, Bobby; parents Deane and Yvonne Brakke, Grandma Gertie, cousin Julie Thorfinnson and many aunts and uncles.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery of Grafton.
