Sam Treib, Fairdale, ND, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023

Samuel Peter Treib (Sam), was born July 24, 1971 in Bismarck, ND to Michael F. Treib and Elizabeth J. (Betty Pulver) Treib.  Sam spent his early childhood and attended schools in Lincoln, Bismarck, and Zap, ND.  He graduated from high school in 1989.  After graduation, Sam worked various labor jobs, including several years in the oil fields.  Tired of all the being away and the phoniness of people, he bought a small home from a fellow worker and moved to Fairdale, ND.  After settling in, he went to work for Paul and Andy Berntson, where he was currently employed.

Sam loved the outdoors and working with the soil.  He also enjoyed living in a small town and getting to know the people in the area.  He made friends wherever he went being easy to like and willing to help anyone.

Some of the special people in his everyday life were:  his girlfriend Elizabeth (Liz) Barbour and her family, Paul and Andy, and his special dog Boe and his pets Pinky and LeRoy.

Sam is survived by his mother, Betty Treib; 2 sons: Nick and Alex Treib; 1 sister Lisa Martin; and 1 special niece Samantha Birrenkott.  He is also survived by 1 great nephew Ridge Charles Birrenkott Placek as well as various aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father Michael F. Treib, grandparents Samuel and Ann Pulver and Catherine Treib; 3 uncles: Frank and Ray Treib and Jack Brandt; 3 aunts: Bobbie Treib, Karen, and aunt Kitty; as well as his special buddy Red.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 10:30 AM at the St. Edward’s Catholic Church of Nekoma, ND.  Cremation has taken place. Messages of sympathy may be sent to Betty Treib, PO Box 266, Edmore, ND 58330.
