Ruth M. Rutherford

Ruth M. Rutherford, age 93 of Grafton, ND passed away on Wednesday, May 05, 2010 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Ruth M. Morstad was born May 6, 1916 near Fordville, ND the daughter of the late Ole and Gina (Espelien) Morstad. She attended schools near Fordville and Lankin. Following her education, Ruth worked as a housekeeper in Park River, Fordville and Grafton. She also worked with her aunt in the cook cars during harvest. Ruth was united in marriage to Clinton J. Rutherford on November 16, 1938 in Grafton. The couple lived and farmed near Grafton. Mr. Rutherford passed away on July 31, 1973. Ruth cooked at the Nash School for a few years following Clinton's death. She lived with her daughter Marlys in Grand Forks for a couple of years before moving to the Lutheran Sunset Home on June 9, 2005. Ruth loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She took great joy in her family gathering at her table. Ruth is survived by her children: Marlys Enge, Grand Forks, ND; Wayne (Leona) Rutherford, Grafton, ND; Lynn (Linda) Rutherford, Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and siblings: Juliann Cole, Farmington, NM and Marvin (Betty) Morstad, Roanoke, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Kalmer, sister Olive Larson and two infant sisters. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM and Saturday for one hour prior to the service all at the Tollefson Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Grafton City Cemetery.
