Russell E. Moreland

Russell E. Moreland, age 79 of Inkster, ND passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Veterans Administration Hospital of Fargo, ND. Russell E. Moreland was born December 20, 1932 in Inkster, ND the son of the late Harry O. and M. Viola Moreland. He graduated from high school there. Following his education he served in the United States Navy for four years, from 1953-1957. Following his discharge he attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. Russell was united in marriage to Janet Haugen on June 3, 1962 in Inkster, ND. The couple lived in Kenmare, ND until the mid-60's when they moved to Gilby, ND where he worked for McLean Land and Cattle. He later worked construction and landscaping until retiring. He later worked at the Fordville Dam. Russell is survived by his children: Mary Moreland, Grand Forks, ND; Allen (Dorothy) Moreland, Gilby, ND; James (Tami) Moreland, Manvel, ND; Liz (David) Papenfuss, Mandan, ND; five grandchildren, one great grandchild; siblings: Elwin (Shirley) Moreland, Grand Forks, ND; Stan (JoAnn) Moreland, Inkster, ND; Margie (Don) Weister, Kearney, NE; sister-in-law Lavaugn Moreland, West Fargo, ND; and brother-in-law Wade Moffett, Inkster, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Melvin and sister Verna Moffett. Funeral services will be Monday, April 23, 2012 at 10:30 at the Faith Lutheran Church of Inkster, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 with a prayer service at 5:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Inkster Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
