Russell E. Crowder, age 68 of Hoople, ND passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Russell E. Crowder was born January 4, 1947 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Edward and Dorothy (McMahon) Crowder. He attended school in Hoople, ND. Following his education he served in the United States Army from 1966-1969, stationed in Germany. Following his discharge he returned to Hoople and worked for Allis Chalmers and later as an over the road trucker for Melland Trucking. Russell was united in marriage to Betty Postier on December 12, 1970 in Hoople, ND. The couple made their home in Hoople. Russell started working for the Hoople Farmers Grain in 1971 and continued to work there until his death. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Hoople, the Hoople American Legion, the Hoople City Council and the Hoople Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as chief for several years. Russell is survived by his wife Betty of Hoople, ND; daughters: Bridget (Patrick) Gram, Burnsville, MN; Stacey (Brian) Reilly, Hoople, ND; six grandchildren: Sydney, Anika and Charolette Gram and Taylor, Emilee and Brady Reilly, sisters-in-law: Elaine Thompson, Grafton, ND; Gail (Dave) Peil, Drayton, ND; brother-in-law, Dean (Val) Postier, Fort Smith, AR. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Donna Uggerud, mother and father-in-law, John and Maxine Postier, brothers-in-law, Richard Thompson and Orlan Melland. A celebration of Russell's life will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 4:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church of Hoople. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 PM at the First Lutheran Church. Military rites will be provided by the Hoople American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Inurnment will be at Hoople City Cemetery.
