Rosanna Credit

June 27, 1920 — September 4, 2018

Rosanna Credit, age 98 of Grafton, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Lutheran Sunset Home.

Rosanna Hachey was born June 27, 1920 to the late George and Christine (Gionet) Hachey in Shirley, Massachusetts.  She grew up and attended school in the Shirley area. She attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School until the 8 th grade, then Ayer High School for three years.  She quit school to help her family, after losing their father and leaving her mother with seven children to raise.  She cleaned houses and took care of mothers and their newborns for many years.

During the war, she worked at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, as a mechanic, so she was a real life “Rosie the Riveter”.  She waited three long years for Freddy to return from the war and they were married shortly after his return on May 17, 1944 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Shirley.

In 1972, they left Shirley and moved to Florida where they resided for the next 25 years.  They were both avid golfers and through the years golfed in six states. She even had a hole in one!

In 1998, Rosanna and Freddy moved to Grafton, ND to be next to family.  She lost the love of her life in 2002.  She moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home in 2015.

She loved being a mother and grandmother and was very good at it.  She enjoyed dancing, reading, playing games like: Scrabble, Kings on the Corner, and Canasta, just to name of few, knitting and golfing.  Her last game of golf was with her son Larry, when she was 93.

Rosanna is survived by her daughter: Janice (Ron) Houska, Grafton, ND; grandchildren: Clint Potulny, Fordville, ND, Todd (Delene) Potulny, Fargo, ND, Matthew Houska, Grafton, ND; great-grandchildren: Ashley, Tyler, Austin, and Tanner Potulny; sister: Theresa Kirkland, Ohio; and Bruce, the Lutheran Sunset Home cat. Several nieces and nephews also survive.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred, son Lawrence, and brothers: Albert, Raymond, and Harold, sisters: Elizabeth, Helen, and Margaret.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service.
