Ronald A. Lerud, age 61 of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.
Ronald was born June 23, 1954 in Park River, ND, the son of the late Allen and Harriet (Thorson) Lerud. Ronald grew up on the family farm near Union, ND. Ronald graduated from Edinburg Public School in 1972, furthered his studies at AVTI and recently earning a degree from Northland Community College of East Grand Forks, MN.
After a car accident that left him paralyzed, he continued to have a positive outlook and with the help of many caregivers he was able to live a life of independence in his own home. Ronald enjoyed Fourth of July celebrations on the rural Union family farm. He had a lifelong interest in Ford Mustang cars and electronics.
He was a member of the former Zion Lutheran Church, rural Union, ND.
Ronald is survived his sister, Linda (Wayne) Olson, Edinburg, ND; three nephews: Chris (Monica) Olson, Thomas (Beth) Olson, Philip (Emily) Olson; one niece, Sherri L. Olson; several great nephews and nieces; special friends: Becky, Bryan, Jenna, Kaylee, Hayden and Macaela. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Harriet Lerud.
Memorial services will be Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. at the Grace Free Lutheran Church, Edinburg, ND. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Union, ND.
