Ronald R. Hagen, age 91 of Park River, ND passed away peacefully on October 31, 2018 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks.
Ron was born on October 4, 1927 near Adams, ND, the son of the late Goodwin and Edith (Berquam) Hagen. He attended rural school in Vesta Township, Walsh County, and graduated from Adams High School in 1945.
Ron was united in marriage to Mildred “Millie” Qually on June 18, 1954. They lived in Devils Lake for several years, where he was the manager of the Contel telephone company in parts of North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota. He was very active in the community and served on many committees and boards including the Lake Region Jr. College, Devils Lake School Board, and Devils Lake Airport Authority. He was a member of the Elks and Eagles and was involved with the Ramsey County 100 Year Celebration and history book.
Upon retiring, Ron and Millie enjoyed travelling and spending time at the lake. In 1996, they moved to Park River. He was a member of Victory Free Lutheran Church.
Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and getting together with his coffee groups. Ron had a great sense of humor and quick wit and will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Ron is survived by his wife and best friend of 64 years, Millie, of Park River. Survivors include a nephew, David Shimek, Lankin; great nieces and nephews Kevin, Robyn, Sarah, Matt and Russ; cousin Duane Gustafson, Park River; sister-in-law Ada Drevecky, Park River and brother-in-law Merlin Hammer, Fairdale. Other nieces and nephews include Lon (Sandy) Drevecky, Minot; Larry Drevecky, Sidney, MT; DeAnne (Wayne) Vigen, Adams; Wanda (Layne) Ensrude, Grafton; Greg (Nancy) Hammer, Fairdale; Terry (Andrea) Hammer, Minot; and Kyza (Vern) Skyrud, Edinburg. Several other precious great nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Glenn, sister and brother-in-law Cora and Alvin Shimek, nephew Harold Shimek, brother-in-law Wally Drevecky and sister-in-law Beverly Hammer.
Ron’s service will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Victory Free Lutheran Church, 113 Oak Street, Park River, ND. Visitation will be Sunday at Tollefson Funeral Home from 3 to 5 with a prayer service at 5:00, and one hour before the service on Monday. Interment will be held at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
In lieu of flowers, all memorials are preferred to the First Care Health Center.
