Ronald G. Berg, age 86 of St. Thomas, ND passed away Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.
Ronald G. Berg was born October 11, 1932 in St. Thomas, North Dakota, the son of the late Lloyd and Gladys (Hagen) Berg. He attended school in St. Thomas. He entered the U.S. Air Force on February 6, 1951. While serving he worked as a sheet metal worker, a Cryogenic Fluids Technician and an Electric Communication and Cryptology Systems Repairman. Ronald was united in marriage to Wanda Campbell on October 2, 1954 at MacDill Air Force Base. The couple raised their children and moved wherever he was stationed. He was a Korean war veteran and earned numerous awards and certificates while serving. Ronald retired from the U.S. Air Force on August 31, 1972. He returned to St. Thomas in 1974 and was the Pembina County Veterans Service Officer for 27 years and was the Emergency Services Manager for Pembina County. He continued to make his home in St. Thomas until moving to the Lutheran Sunset Home in August.
He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, St. Thomas, ND, the St. Thomas American Legion Post, the V.F.W., the DAV and was a Mason. He enjoyed golfing and racing.
Ronald is survived by his sons: Scot (Sandy) Berg, St. Thomas, ND; Timothy Berg, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren: Michael (Sarah) Berg, Kevin (Kelly) Berg, Lynn (Aaron) Martinez, Chelsey Berg and Jory Berg; and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda, parents, brother, Duane Berg and sister, Susan Kelder.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church of St. Thomas. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the St. Thomas City Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by the U.S. Air Force Military Funeral Honors and the St. Thomas American Legion Post.
