Rodney Elmo Uggerud, 64, of Auburn ND, passed on January 31, 2012 at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN surrounded by loved ones. Rodney was born in Grafton on October 21, 1947 to Elmo and Anna Uggerud. He attended the Martin Township County School until 8th grade. Then he attended Grafton High School. Rodney joined the Army in 1967. He trained in Fort Knox to become an armored tank mechanic. He was stationed in Germany until 1968. In 1969 he married Donna Crowder. They resided in Denver for a short time and returned home to farm with his father. In 1970 they bought a house in Auburn where they raised their two daughters Tracy Marie and Amy Lea. Rodney, later joined by brother Curtis, enjoyed farming and raised sugar beets, beans, and grain. He retired from farming in 1998. He continued working seasonally for TranSystems, Cameron Farms, and Minto Ag Center. In 2011 he married Jan Nice and gained two step-daughters and two step-sons. His passion in life was the outdoors which included hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling. He was skilled in archery both as a hunter and in competition. Rodney worked at Corky's Gun Repair, West Oslo, where he learned the mechanics of weaponry. He collected and built many of his own rifles and was an excellent marksman. He hunted and fished in many states, Canada, and Mexico. He loved spending time with family and friends. He greatly enjoyed spending time with each of his grandchildren whether it was cuddling on the couch or driving lessons. We will all miss his stories and great sense of humor. Left to cherish his memories are his wife Jan, daughters Tracy Uggerud (Randy Almen) of Grafton and Amy (John) McKenzie of Selkirk, MB, step-daughters Hatti (Derrick) Olson, Grand Forks and Kellie Nice, Grand Forks, step-sons Brandon Nice, Ardoch and Danny Nice, Grand Forks.
