Robert B. Young

Robert B. Young, age 78 of St. Thomas, ND passed away on Monday, November 23, 2009 at the Wedgewood Manor of Cavalier, ND. Robert B. Young was born July 7, 1931 in St. Thomas, ND the son of the late Kenneth and Margaret (Bigwood) Young. He graduated from St. Thomas High School and attended the Bottineau School of Forestry for two years. He later graduated from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Robert served in the United States Army from Sept. 9, 1954-Sept. 8, 1956, stationed in Alaska. Following his discharge he returned to St. Thomas where he worked as a carpenter. He later managed the St. Thomas Lumber Yard. He took over the family farm in St. Thomas and farmed until retiring in 1993. Robert enjoyed woodworking and golfing and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his sister Margaret (Neil) Monsebroten, Grafton, ND; brothers: M. Keith (Mary Ann) Young, St. Thomas, ND; Donald (Lucille) Young, Grafton, ND; Harvey (Ellen) Young, Volga, SD; sixteen nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, two nephews and one niece. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Thomas United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the St. Thomas City Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Ottum-Ball American Legion Post #168.
