Robert J. Phelps

Robert J. Phelps, age 58 of Arvilla, ND and formerly of Park River, ND passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.

Robert J. Phelps was born August 12, 1960 in Park River, ND the son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Byzewski) Phelps. He grew up and attended school in Park River, graduating in 1978. Following his education he enlisted in the Unites States Army and served in Germany from 1978-1982. Following his discharge he returned home and was married to Judy Walker. The couple made their home in Minto and Robert worked for Rudnik Farms. He later moved to Grand Forks and started working for Paulson Construction and worked there until his death.

He is survived by his siblings: Charles (Linda) Phelps, Watertown, WI; Veronica (Dale) Stark, Weslaco, TX; Kathy Nomeland, Grand Forks, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Joey, sister Shirley Brevik and brother-in-law, James Nomeland.

Memorial services will be Friday, October 26, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at St. Edward’s Catholic Cemetery, Drayton, ND. Military rites will be provided by the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
