Richard S. Schuster, age 93 of Spencer, Iowa and formerly of Warsaw, ND passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer. Richard S. Schuster was born January 27, 1921 in Pulaski Township of Walsh County the son of the late Max and Laura (Misialek) Schuster. He attended rural school there and worked on the family farm. Richard served in the United States Army from October 1942 to October of 1945, serving in Africa, Sicily and France. Following his discharge he returned to Walsh County and farmed with family and worked at Williamson Creamery. Richard was united in marriage to Donna Ebert on May 18, 1948 in Grafton. The couple later moved to Sauk Centre, MN and operated a gas station. They later moved to Alexandria, MN and he went to work for Land O'Lakes Creamery as a salesman. They lived in various cities in Minnesota and Wisconsin. He retired in 1983 and Donna passed away in August of 2006. In November of 2011 he moved to Spencer, Iowa where he lived until his death. Richard was an active member of the Lion's Club and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his sons: Allan (Christy Sue) Schuster, Spencer, IA and Mark (Sue) Schuster, Woodbury, MN; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and sister, Ethel Spies, Grand Forks, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Debra Foss, great grandson, Caleb and siblings: Raphael, Leonard and Amelia. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton and Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
