Richard M Munoz

Richard M. “Sarge” Munoz, age 71 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.

Richard M. Munoz was born November 5, 1946 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Juan and Martina (Moreno) Munoz. He attended school in Auburn, ND. Following his education he enlisted in the United States Army. He served from 1966-1968. Following his discharge he returned to Minneapolis where he worked as a welder. He worked in South Dakota in construction and in 1997 returned to Grafton where he started working at Hill’s Inc. He worked there until his death. Richard was united in marriage to Maria Martinez on June 1, 2001 in Grafton. The couple made their home in Grafton.

Richard is survived by his wife, Maria of Grafton, ND; daughter, Leanna Laframboise, Sisseton, SD; step-children: Leticia (Javier) Sosa, Grafton, ND; Elizabeth (Raul) Hidalgo, El Nido, CA; Manuel (Amber) Garza, Grafton, ND; Elena (Sergio) Lopez, Buda, TX; Pablo (Victoria) Garza, Oslo, Norway, Sylvia Garza, Laredo, TX; 12 step-grandchildren; one step great granddaughter; his siblings: Mary Miller, Grand Forks, ND; Rosa (Ernie) Aguilar, Grafton, ND; Josephine Gonzales, Crystal City, TX; Antonio Munoz, Eagle Pass, TX; Gilbert Munoz, Detroit, MI; Joe Munoz, Crookston, MN Victoria Munoz, Fergus Falls, MN; his best friend, Howard Kleen, Grafton, ND. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Dustin Laframboise, brother Juan and sister Virginia.

Visitation will be Friday from 2-7 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. A prayer service will be Friday evening at 7;00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
