Raymond S. Lien

Raymond S. Lien, 59 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, November 05, 2012 at his home in Grafton. Raymond S. Lien was born June 20, 1953 in Grafton, ND the son of Victor and Betty (Duray) Lien where he grew up and attended school. He served in the United States Army in 1974. Following his discharge he returned to Grafton and worked for Mattson House Moving, area farmers and later the Walsh County Highway Department. He was united in marriage to Sharon Lindenberg on May 25, 1978 in Reno, NV. The couple made their home in Grafton. In 1990 they moved to Alaska and made their home in the Matanuska Valley. He graduated from Matanuska-Susitna College in Anchorage with a degree in refrigeration and heating. He did some construction work in the villages in Alaska before returning to Grafton in 1993. He owned and operated Lien's Refrigeration and Heating until his health forced him to retire in 2003. He was a member of Grafton Lutheran Church and the Bosh-Ryba American Legion Post #157 of Lankin, ND. Ray is survived by his wife Sharon of Grafton, ND; son Ryan and his fiancé Heidi Restemayer of Park River, ND; five grandchildren; his mother Betty Lien of Grafton, ND; brothers: Brad (Leslie) Lien, Plainfield, IL and Steven Lien (Barb Berdahl), Crookston, MN. He was preceded in death by his father and brother Wayne. Memorial services will be Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Military rites will be provided by the Bosh-Ryba American Legion Post #157 of Lankin, ND and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to Altru Hospice, Grafton, ND.
