Randy L Mathiason

Randall L. “Randy” Mathiason, age 58 of Adams, ND passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 at his home in Park River.

Randall L. Mathiason was born March 17, 1959 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Irwin and Norma (Christenson) Mathiason. He grew up and attended school in Edinburg, ND. Following his education he attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND graduating with a welding certificate. He worked for Close Construction in Milton, ND. He later worked for various farmers as an over the road trucker then went back to Close Construction and worked there until his health forced him to retire. Randy was united in marriage to Gail Molde on August 16, 2008 in Edinburg. The couple made their home in Adams until moving to Park River in 2016.

Randy enjoyed spending time in his garden, camping, fishing and making lefse. He enjoyed spending time with this family and playing cards, especially pinochle.

Randy is survived by his wife, Gail of Park River, ND; his children: Shaun, Gina and Luke Mathiason all of Dawsonville, GA; his step-children: Melissa Burley, Grafton, ND; Jennifer Stenerson, Jake Stenerson (Krystal) and Andrew Stenerson all of Park River, ND; ten grandchildren;  his siblings: Gary (Lois) Mathiason, Edinburg, ND; Karen (Thomas) Strand, Bismarck, ND; Kathy (Mark) Sundby, Cavalier, ND; Karla (Mike) Nuensinger, Thornton, CO. Several nieces and nephews also survive along with his best companion, Ole. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Duane and sister, Kandice.

Memorial services will be Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Visitation will be Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fairdale, ND in the spring.
