Ralph D. Craig, age 64 of Grafton, ND, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ralph D. Craig was born September 27, 1951 in Gackle, ND, the son of Irene Carpenter and the late Ray Craig. He grew up and attended schools near Napolean and Grafton, ND. He later attended Lake Region State College for Cabinetry where he met Carolyn Bye. The couple was united in marriage on June 25, 1977 in Devils Lake, ND. They made their home in Grafton where he worked for Adamsen Construction for a short time before starting Craig’s Building Service. He continued to work construction up until the time of his death.
He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, collecting bird houses, going to auction sales, hunting, watching NASCAR, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, Grafton, ND, children: Tami (Dwey) Craig, Grand Forks, ND, Jennifer (Frank Sr.) Contreras, St. Thomas, ND, Travis (Michelle) Craig, Grafton, ND, 7 grandchildren, and his mother Irene Carpenter. He is preceded in death by his father, son Troy, brother Roger, and sister Patricia Contreras.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5-7, with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
