Quintin B. "Squint" Daley, 84, of Burlington, died Monday, October 5, 2009, at his residence. Mr. Daley was born February 4, 1925 in Grafton, North Dakota, the son of Torger Andreas and Jennie Ovidia Iverson Daley. On July 20, 1945 he married Lorraine Frances Bina in Park River, North Dakota. He was a graduate of Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River and attended Messiah Lutheran Church in Burlington. He farmed in North Dakota from 1945 until 1966 when the family moved to Burlington. He then became a partner in the Rutherford Potato Company until 1983. At that time he became a salesman for the Burlington River Terminal, retiring in 1990. He was active in Future Farmers of America and was a past president of FFA in North Dakota. Mr. Daley was named the Outstanding Young Farmer for North Dakota in 1957, was a member of the Elks and Masons (receiving all degrees), and a member of Kem Temple Shrine in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Mr. Daley is survived by his wife, Lorraine Daley; two sons, William A. Daley of Sterling, Alaska and Robert (Kim) Daley of Boise, Idaho; two daughters, Susan (Dennis) Linder of New London and Carol Garrett of Bettendorf, Iowa; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister. Funeral services for Mr. Quintin Daley will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 9th, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Burlington, Iowa. Rev. Armin Weng will officiate. Visitation will begin after noon Thursday, October 8th, in Lunning Chapel with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. A service will also be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 12th, at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hoople, North Dakota. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Tollefson Funeral Home in Park River, North Dakota. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hoople, North Dakota. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital and Great River Hospice.
