Philip J Sevigny

Philip J. Sevigny age 87 of Oakwood, ND passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.

Philip J. Sevigny was born October 24, 1929 near Oakwood, ND the son of the late Philorum and Laura (Proulx) Sevigny. He attended St. Aloysius Academy in Oakwood. Following his education he farmed with his father and brothers, John and Gabriel. Philip served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. Following his discharge he returned home and continued to farm. He married Mary Jane Demers on October 28, 1953 in Oakwood. The family made their home in Oakwood where he farmed until he was in his 70’s.

Philip was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Grafton American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane of Grafton, ND; his children: Randy Sevigny, Grafton, ND; Brenda Sevigny, Grafton, ND; Julie (Jerry) Pearce, Larimore, ND; Gail Sevigny, Grafton, ND; Gary Sevigny, Oakwood, ND; Tricia (Jim) Weber, Grand Forks, ND; and Monica Sevigny (Scott Nelson), Fisher, MN; seven grandchildren: Brittany (Kevin) Phelps, Jessica (Joshua) Lupkes, Travis Pearce (Emily Beaton), Alexandria Weber, James Weber, Joseph Weber, Lucas Weber; two great grandchildren: Kennedy Lupkes and Cora Phelps. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Gabriel and John and sisters: Margaret Gourde and Marie Lafreniere.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Oakwood. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
