Peter Ronald Johnson

Peter R. Johnson, age 76 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019 at the First Care Health Center of Park River, ND.

Peter Ronald Johnson was born November 20, 1942 in Svold, ND the son of the late Hjelmer and Ruby (Galloway) Johnson. He attended rural school near there. Following his education he worked in a potato house. Peter was united in marriage to Sharon West on July 2, 1961 in Grafton, ND. The couple made their home in Grafton where he worked for Mattson Manufacturing and Northeast Concrete. He later owned and operated Pete’s Towing in Grafton for six years. He then worked as a jailer at the Walsh County Law Enforcement Center for 22 years, retiring in 2006.

He was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and the Grafton Volunteer Fire Department.

Peter is survived by his wife, Sharon of Grafton, ND; his children: Sue (Dave) Fellman, Duane Johnson, Gary Johnson, all of Grafton, ND; Patricia (Shawn) Gerszewski, Minto, ND; nine grandchildren: Duane Jr., Amber, Chad, Ashley, Genevieve, Connor, Carrie, Josef and Nicholas; four great grandchildren: Nicole, Wes, Julia and Stella; his brothers: Melvin (Lilly) Johnson, WA; Robert (Joan) Johnson, Grand Forks, ND; sisters: Diane (Jerry) Kingsley and Doris (Dan) Fisher both of Washington. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Donna Rae, grandsons: Ronnie and Justin; brother, Jimmy; sisters: June Graves, Joyce Squire, Gladys Shambaugh and Christine Lien.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Svold, North Dakota in the spring.
