Pearl Troftgruben age 101 of Grafton and formerly of Adams, ND passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Center in Park River, ND.
Pearl Gilbertson was born October 17, 1916 in Newfolden, MN the daughter of the late Gilbert and Anna (Swenson) Gilbertson. She grew up and attended school in Dundee Township, Walsh County, ND. Following her education she worked as a housekeeper in Grand Forks, ND. Pearl was united in marriage to Sundry Troftgruben on October 13, 1940 in Edinburg, ND. The couple lived in Edinburg where they owned and operated a café. In 1957 they moved to their farm west of Adams, ND. They farmed until retiring in 1980. Following their retirement the couple spent several winters in Arizona. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. Sundry passed away October 5, 1996. Pearl remained on the farm until 2000 when she moved into Grafton. In June of 2008 she moved to the Good Samaritan Center.
Pearl was a member of the Adams Mountain Lutheran Church and WELCA. She was known for her wonderful buns, brownies, lefse and doughnuts. She loved to garden and quilt. She made quilts for all of her grandchildren.
Pearl is survived by her children: Pam (John) Landsem, Adams, ND; Gary (Mavis) Troftgruben, Harvey, ND; eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and sisters-in-law: Darlene Monson, Park River, ND and Ernestine Troftgruben, Dickinson, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Lori Ann and sons: Gaylen and Gerald, daughter-in-law, Sharon, four brothers: Henry, Garfield, Lloyd and Carl and sisters: Gladys Picotte, Lillie Quam, Myrtle Runneberg, Mabel Olson and Lorraine Gisvold.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 1, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Adams Mountain Lutheran Church of Adams, ND. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River, ND and Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Odalen Lutheran Cemetery, rural Edinburg, ND.
