A gentle heart stopped beating on Friday, February 03, 2012 when Pearl S. Johnson died. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt joined her family. She was the last living member of her generation. Pearl was born October 16, 1914 to Christ and Ingeborg Lien in South Valley Township, Overly, ND. She grew up on the farm and attended rural South Valley School. She went to Minneapolis for hairdresser training and returned to the rural Overly area. She worked on a cook car during thrashing and it was here she met her Husband Earl Johnson of Oakland, Nebraska. They were married November 10, 1938 in Devils Lake and then continued on to Oakland, Nebraska to make their home. In 1944 they returned to the Rolette area to the Reider Holen farm and began farming. Their son Ronnald Lee was born in May of 1943. Pearl was known for her baking skills. Her fresh buns were enjoyed by many and shared often. She continued baking buns until 2 weeks before her death. In January of 2008 she moved to Grafton to be near her family. She continued to live independently until her death Pearl was baptized and confirmed in the Willow Creek Lutheran Church at Overly. She was a member of Valle Lutheran Church, Rolette. Her faith in God was an example to all in the gentle life she lived. Survivors include son Ron (Charlene) Johnson, Grafton, ND, grandchildren: Andrew (Christy) Johnson, Greenville, SC, Daniel (Diane) Johnson, Hoople, ND, Rebecca (George) Carter, Fargo, ND, great grandchildren: Ryan, Alex, Lindsey, Brayden, Kayla, Teddy and Kaden. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl (1998), sister Thora-husband, Grant Foss and brother Reider-wife Erna Lien. Memorial services will be Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Valle Lutheran Church of Rolette, ND. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Willow Creek Cemetery, Overly, ND. In Lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Willow Creek Cemetery, Overly, ND.
