Paul J. Brodeur, age 84 of Grafton, ND passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at his home in Grafton.
Paul J. Brodeur was born November 15, 1932 in Joliette, ND the son of the late Joseph and Dora (Leveque) Brodeur. He attended school in Joliette, St. Boniface, MB, Canada and graduated high school from St. Aloysius Academy in Oakwood in 1950. Paul was united in marriage to Grace Demers on June 23, 1953 in Oakwood, ND. He worked on the family farm until 1954 when the couple moved to Grafton and he started working for Adamsen Construction. Paul took a correspondence course on drafting and estimating and in 1966 he started Brodeur Construction. Paul was instrumental in the construction of many business buildings in Grafton including several banks, Grafton High School and several agricultural warehouses in the area.
He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and served on the building committee when the new church was built, the Grafton Knights of Columbus and was sexton of the St. John’s Cemetery for several years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Paul is survived by his children: Albert (Celeste) Brodeur, Clarksville, TN; Ramona (Peter) Keeley, Fort Myers, FL; Paula (Gordon) Winterlin, Bloomington, MN; William (Julie) Brodeur, Fargo, ND; Lee (Betsy) Brodeur, Greensboro, NC; Sandi (Paul) Houdek, Grafton, ND; 17 grandchildren: Brian, Jonathan & MaKenzie Brodeur, Christopher & Joseph Keeley, Anne Christensen, Daniel & Jeffrey Winterlin, Jessica Hoffman, Amanda Brodeur, Nicole Johnson, Luke Brodeur, Sydney, Julia and Lauren Brodeur, Sam and Chloe Tweten, 15 great grandchildren; siblings: Phil (Nitsa) Brodeur, Fairfield, CA; Mary Jean (Loren) Hanson, Rosemount, MN; Helen Zahn, Moorhead, MN; Mae (Robert) Urlaub, West Fargo, ND; Robert (Jill) Brodeur, York, SC. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson, Charlie Tweten, brothers: Larry, Ed and Pete and sister, Theresa Pariseau.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Saturday for two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to the Altru Hopice-Grafton Chapter or St. John’s Catholic Church.
